Refund and Cancellation Policy

Last updated August 3, 2026

How to cancel, when you get money back, and what happens to your documents afterwards. Cancelling is self-serve and takes two clicks; nothing here requires you to talk to us.

The short version

  • Cancel any time from Settings → Billing. Two clicks, no email, no retention call.
  • Cancelling stops the next charge. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • New subscriptions: full refund within 14 days of the first payment, for any reason.
  • Annual renewals: pro-rata refund of the unused remainder if you ask within 30 days of the renewal charge.
  • Documents you have already generated stay yours after you cancel. What stops is hosting, automatic updating and access to the product.

Automatic renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically. At the end of each billing period — monthly or annual, as chosen at checkout — the payment method on file is charged the then-current fee for the next period, and this continues until you cancel.

You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current period, from Settings → Billing. Cancelling takes effect without contacting us.

For annual subscriptions we email a renewal reminder to the address on your account between 30 and 60 days before the renewal date, stating the renewal date, the amount, and how to cancel.

We will also email you before a renewal at a price higher than the one you last paid, with at least 30 days’ notice, so that you can cancel first.

How to cancel

Go to Settings → Billing and cancel. That is the whole process, and it is deliberately no harder than subscribing was. You will see the date your plan ends, and you keep everything you paid for until then.

If you cannot reach the billing page for any reason, email support@ilawforms.com from the address on your account and we will cancel it for you. A cancellation request takes effect from the date you sent it, not the date we got round to it.

When we refund

First payment on a new subscription — 14 days

If you are not satisfied, ask within 14 days of your first subscription payment and we will refund it in full. You do not need to give a reason. This applies once per customer, to the first paid subscription.

Annual renewals — 30 days, pro-rata

If an annual subscription renews and you did not intend it to, tell us within 30 days of the charge and we will refund the unused remainder of the year on a pro-rata basis and end the subscription immediately.

Monthly renewals

Monthly renewals are not refundable, because cancelling before the renewal date is free and takes two clicks. If a renewal charged after you had already cancelled, that is our error and we will refund it in full.

One-off purchases

A one-off document generation purchase is refundable within 14 days, provided you have not downloaded or published the documents. Once the documents have been exported the thing you bought has been delivered, and it cannot be returned.

If we cause the problem

If we discontinue a feature you are paying for, materially reduce the Service, or shut it down, you get a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused remainder of your term. If we get a charge wrong, we refund the difference — always, and without a time limit.

When we do not refund

  • Partial monthly periods after a mid-period cancellation.
  • Periods where the subscription was active and available to you, whether or not you used it.
  • Accounts suspended or terminated for breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Requests made outside the windows above, unless the law requires otherwise.

We would rather refund a marginal case than argue about it. If you think your situation is unfair, say so — we read those emails.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK

The Service is sold for business use, so these rights usually do not apply. Where you are nonetheless a consumer under EU or UK law, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason.

Because the Service starts immediately, you are asked at checkout to consent to immediate performance and to acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once digital content has been supplied. If you have not yet generated or downloaded a document, the right survives and we will refund you in full.

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights, and the refund terms above apply in addition to them, not instead of them.

How to ask for a refund

Email support@ilawforms.com from the address on your account, with the charge date or invoice number. We reply within two business days.

Approved refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, usually within five to ten business days depending on your bank. We do not refund by any other method, because refunding to a different destination is how payment fraud is laundered.

Chargebacks

Please ask us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback costs us a fee and automatically suspends the account while the dispute runs, which takes your hosted documents offline — usually the opposite of what the customer wanted. Almost every dispute we have seen would have been resolved faster by email. If you have already filed one, tell us and we will work with you either way.

What happens to your documents and data

Immediately after cancelling

Nothing changes until the end of the period you have paid for. Hosted documents stay live, automatic updates keep running, and you keep full access.

At the end of the paid period

The account moves to the free plan. Hosted documents stop being served at policies.ilawforms.com — a link from your website to a cancelled hosted policy will stop resolving, so repoint it before then. Automatic regeneration stops. Your answers, documents and version history remain in the account, and you can still sign in and export them.

Export

You can export every document as HTML, Markdown, plain text or PDF at any time, on any plan, including after cancelling. There is no export window to miss and no fee for leaving.

Deleting the account

Deleting your account deletes your organisation, sites, answers, documents and version history within 30 days, and from encrypted backups within a further 35 days as the backup cycle ages out. Billing and tax records are kept for seven years because the law requires it. This is not reversible — export first.

Where we hold personal data as your processor, deletion follows the Data Processing Addendum. The rest is described in the Privacy Policy.
